There are many things that attract this gal to romance novels. When it came to Colleen Shannon's Foster Justice it began with the mere mention of Texas Rangers. Not sure what it is that intrigue me so much about them. There's just something appealing about the rugged alpha male types with cowboy hats and those amazingly tight jeans. So Foster Justice clearly made the cut.
Where to begin? Chad Foster. This is one Texas Ranger that brings sexy back. His smoking good looks just make me shiver with delight in all the right places. He's alpha male through and through ladies.
Shannon's Chad Foster is not fond of strippers which seems like a bonus for him. The only problem is the leading lady is just that...a stripper. Granted she isn't defined by that profession in her eyes. Although Chad has a difficult time seeing passed it. His interaction with the stripper with the butterfly tattoo is intriguing at best. There is tension for sure but I always wanted more to happen between these two. There were heated moment but sadly it just wasn't enough for me. It seemed as though Shannon saved the heat until the bitter end which was a waste in my opinion. The chemistry between this pair had all the makings of that hot steamy kind of love all of us ladies really want in out romance novels. But in the end I did enjoy the romance they shared and the ending was neatly wrapped up with a red hot bow.
The suspense! Shannon definitely has no problems in the suspense department. As Chad began the hunt for his missing brother the mystery and suspense revved up like you wouldn't believe. There was always something happening...a lead to follow...a chase to save a brother before it was too late. My gosh...I was always on the edge of my seat dying to know what would happen next. If you're wanting to know if Chad found his brother you'll have to read the book to find out. I just can't bring myself to ruin the mystery for anyone. I will say that I was one pissed of reader. I understand the angle that Shannon was going for but for goodness sake. Why...oh why did you have to do that? Was it necessary?
As the debut installment of the Texas Ranger series Foster Justice has a lot going for it. It's a light and exciting read with exciting characters that pull you into their story. I'm curious to see where the second installment leads and what characters will be in the spotlight. I highly recommend Foster Justice to romance readers that enjoy a little suspense with their love stories topped off with a nice hunky Texas Ranger.

Synopsis (per Goodreads)
One Riot, One Ranger…
That's the Texas Ranger motto, but when Chad Foster's rebellious brother goes missing, it's time to put his elite training to use investigating a crime that strikes much closer to home. Turning Los Angeles inside out to retrieve Trey and save their ranch from a ruthless land grab is a no brainer, even if it puts his badge at risk. His only lead is a heart-stoppingly sensuous exotic dancer with a very tempting butterfly tattoo, the woman who helped scam his brother out of their ranch. But staying on top of this redhead's every suggestive word and sensual move means putting his case--and his heart--right in the line of fire.
A Texas Ranger, complete with quarter horse, is as out of place in downtown L.A. as a lawman is in the bed of a suspect, but with both their lives at risk, Chad has to put his trust in the one woman who could bring him down for good, and pray that somehow hard evidence is really just a pack of lies.
